Our Philosophy
Functional medicine is medicine that is personalised care in a patient-centred way where the doctor and her patient form a team which empowers the patient through education, awareness, consciousness of the body and mindfulness .
It looks for the underlying cause of symptoms rather than simply treating the symptoms. It brings tools that identify and treat the root cause of the illness to bring resolution of the disease. Searching for the root cause does not mean looking only for the physiological signs and chemical or hormonal imbalances but also taking account of the mental state and the past physiological events as the Psycho-Neuro-Endocrino-Gut-Immune (PNEGI) systems are strongly linked together .
Our Expertise
Dr Isabelle Martineau graduated as a medical doctor in Paris at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, qualified in the speciality of Endocrinology, Metabolic diseases and Nutrition and further specialised in Functional Medicine.
Over the past years, Dr Isabelle Martineau has integrated more naturopathy into her practice. She studied at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) in London and holds the dipCNM in nutrition. She also holds a diploma in Bioregulatory Medicine. Dr. Martineau has also passed her LFHom (licence from the Faculty of Homeopathy) . She is accredited in Functional Medicine for Clinical Practice from the Institute for Functional Medicine (USA) and has been practising Functional Medicine for the past 12 years.
Dr Martineau treats patients with health challenges but also works with healthy individuals to help them achieve optimum functioning and age well. Dr Martineau works across Europe, the USA, and the UK treating both adults and children .

What to Expect at the Practice
- A medical history form, including a lifestyle and diet questionnaire is sent to the patient to complete .
- The first consultation (online or face-to-face) can last between 1 hour and 2 hrs as the patient's history is key to understanding the triggers and drivers of the illness. Previous medical reports and laboratory results are always helpful.
- A physical examination can be done depending on the condition.
- Further laboratory tests may be needed. Usually if accepted by your GP, the most cost-efficient way is to do it with the NHS, otherwise with private laboratories .
- Dietary recommendations are suggested and they may include supplements, as the first line of treatment is mainly nutrition and lifestyle; medications are also prescribed depending on the condition; if further hospital investigations are needed, we work closely with conventional doctors and consultants.
- The follow-up can vary from every 4 weeks to every 2-3 months until improvement/restoration of the patient's wellness.
